Prayer Against Self-Sabotage

Since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly,[a] but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.

2nd Corinthians 10:5

Dear Father God, I lay at Your feet, the spirit of self-sabotage causing me to put up unnecessary barriers that keep me from reaching and realizing the goals and purpose that You have set before me. This evil spirit is caused by doubt, fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. But Your word assures me that You did not give me the Spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Meaning, I have the ability to remain calm, well-balanced, self-controlled, and not letting the enemy play with my mind, thoughts or future. I admit that I should already know how to fight this battle, but Satan does not attack my mind when I am strong, but when I am weak and uncertain. And that he takes advantage of that small window of opportunity to plant seeds of fear and anxiety in my mind, leading to self-sabotage. I pray that You will deliver me from my tendencies to sabotage my ___________. I understand that set-backs will come but there is good news, the word of God never changes, never fails, and he never leaves me due to imperfections. The word teaches me how to break-free these from destructive cycles and overcome self-sabotage as I walk into God’s plan. I stand in thankfulness for You God as You remind me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and I am capable of doing great things with Your help. I commit to stopping self-sabotaging behavior as I align my thoughts and actions to Your purpose in every aspect of my life as I align myself with God’s promises. In Jesus name. Amen

First, we must understand church is not a building, a Sunday school class, or a service time. According to scripture, a church gathering is a group of people coming together in Christ and the people are the church. Jesus shows us in Matthew 18 that a gathering can be as little as two people together.

The service usually involves the singing of hymns, reading of scripture verses and possibly a psalm. If the church follows a lectionary, the sermon will often be about the scripture lections assigned to that day. Eucharistic churches have usually Holy Communion either every Sunday or several Sundays a month.

There are no rules as to what to bring to church, other than your self, an open heart and mind. Some bring a bible, if you’re going to engage in bible study.

If you want to know how to dress for church, something modest and comfortable should be fine. Generally, graphic tees that show off sports team logos or bands should never be worn to church. Solid-colored tops are fine, and even something with a pattern should be OK to wear.

Ask your friends if they have a place to worship the Savior and invite them to come worship with you, especially at times like Christmas and Easter. If they aren’t Christians, ask them if they’d like to learn more about Jesus Christ and invite them to experience a Christian worship service with you. Remember to show the same respect for their beliefs that you hope they will give yours.

There are many questions Christians are asked that the individual Christian is unable to answer. It happens all the time.
